What is Body-Mind Centering®?
Body-Mind Centering® is an experiential study of the body, movement, and consciousness founded by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, with a broad spectrum of applications: dance, yoga, physical therapy, occupational therapy, bodywork, visual art, music, and more.
With embodiment at its heart, anatomy, physiology, embryology, and developmental movement are explored through movement, touch, voice, breath, and consciousness. Learning about ourselves from the inside out unfolds change in our bodies & minds; body and mind are interdependent and change with each other.
This is a creative practice, one of curiosity, improvisation, and exploration, that invites discovery and embodiment of innate wisdom and organization, and builds our capacity to trust and listen to what the body has to say.
BMC® challenges many assumed hierarchies present in the study of the body and movement, expanding perspectives on what is possible to sense, feel, and act from.
